It has been a while since I posted any pics so I decided to throw some up today so y'all can see what life is like here in Northern Iraq. Enjoy!

The new MRAP vehicles (Mine Resistant Armor Protected) have replaced the HUMVEE for soldiers going out on patrol. HUMVEEs were easily destroyed by IEDs and car bombs so the Army went to this up-armored vehicle for all tactical units. Each one weighs 32,000 lbs and carries 6-10 soldiers plus the gunner.

Outside my room during a sandstorm. This is not an exposure problem with the camera. It really was an orange-red outside during the storm. And this is at 2 o'clock in the afternoon, a few hours earlier it was sunny with blue skies.

Dude those MRAPs look like something out of Mad Max.
Those orange haze pics are crazy, cigar collection is looking good! You've bulked a bit too, glad to see the Army food is still agreeing with you. Was that an actual injured soldier or was it a drill? Love the camp chair too. Looks like a good group of guys, hopefully the time is going by quick enough. You're going to be a spades and horeshoes champ soon ;) Hey, any b-ball on base?
The MRAPs are awesome and it's about time, i hope they do the job. The sandstorm with everything turning red, weird! It looks like Hell maybe? Maybe that's where you are who knows? i hope not...Stay strong Pete, thanks for the pics, we love to see what's going on over there, you really keep us all in touch! Mom
